According to TMZ, Lanez has entered a not guilty plea to charges that he shot Megan Thee Stallion in the foot with a semiautomatic handgun. The Canadian rapper’s attorney Shawn Holley appeared at a Los Angeles County court on Wednesday to present Tory’s case. Tory has been unable to make it to court since the shooting and has only been able to appear via the phone. A couple of months ago, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office charged him with one count of assault with a semiautomatic firearm and one count of carrying a loaded, unregistered firearm in a vehicle. They also charged Tory for causing great bodily harm to the female rapper. He has already posted a $190,00 bond and has been ordered to stay far away from Megan after she issued a protective order against him. Since Megan Thee Stallion accused him of shooting her, Tory has been doing his best to defend himself on social media, saying that he has not been convicted of the crime. If convicted, Tory Lanez can potentially face up to 22 years in prison.
There has been quite a bit of drama surrounding the case. Megan revealed in a recent interview that Tory had offered to pay her hush money if she stayed silent about the incident. Tory has refuted the claims through his attorney, claiming that he never “offered to pay for her silence.” Back in August, Megan flat-out accused Tory of shooting her in the foot. She even accused his team of trying to change the narrative by lying to gossip sites. She also refuted the claim that she hit Tory while in the car, but admitted that the two were in an argument prior to the shooting. In September, the rapper dropped an album claiming his innocence. He denied that he shot her and called Megan Thee Stallion a liar. During the legal proceedings, the issue of whether or not the song lyrics (and his several social media posts) violate his protective order is still being decided. The next hearing for Tory is scheduled to take place next year, on January 20.
Legendary fans are waiting and wondering if Tory Lanez will be convicted of shooting Megan Thee Stallion. This case is going to generate plenty of headlines until a verdict is reached.
